The French public agency ADEME has confirmed a major milestone for Biodiv-Wind:
SafeWind is the most widely used bird detection system in France.

According to the latest ADEME study on Detection-Shutdown Systems (SDA), more than 50% of the systems identified in its 2025 analysis were SafeWind.
The study covers 586 French wind turbines, representing 57% of turbines equipped with an SDA at the time of the analysis.
This result highlights the growing role of bird detection systems in the French wind energy sector.
More than 800 SafeWind systems worldwide
For more than ten years, Biodiv-Wind has developed and deployed SafeWind systems around the world.
Today, more than 800 wind turbines are equipped with our technology, both onshore and offshore.
SafeWind combines AI-powered bird detection, real-time monitoring and operational response. The system helps detect bird activity around wind turbines and supports action when needed.
As a result, it contributes to bird protection while supporting renewable electricity production.
More than cameras
However, SafeWind is not simply about installing cameras.
Effective bird monitoring also requires understanding how birds use each site. Species, flight behaviour, local conditions and environmental context all matter.
Our approach therefore combines technology, field experience and continuous observation.
This is essential because every wind farm and every bird community is different.
