Biodiv-Wind to Present Its Research at WWRM 2026
We are pleased to announce that our study, “Blade tip speed and collision risk for three raptor species”, has been selected for an oral presentation at the Wind Wildlife Research Meeting (WWRM) 2026, organized by the Renewable Energy Wildlife Institute (REWI).
This international conference brings together researchers and professionals working on the interactions between wind energy and wildlife.
Understanding bird collision risk
Our study explores the link between wind turbine blade tip speed and collision risk for three raptor species.
Understanding these interactions is essential. Indeed, birds may face different levels of risk depending on their behaviour and the operating conditions of wind turbines.
By examining the relationship between blade tip speed and collision risk, this research contributes to a better understanding of how birds interact with wind turbines.
Moreover, scientific evidence can help improve our knowledge of wildlife and wind energy. It can also inform future approaches to biodiversity protection around wind farms.
An oral presentation at WWRM 2026
The study will be presented by Lucie Barluet de Beauchesne, during Session 3: “Understanding behavior to evaluate collision risk.”
📅 Date: October 28, 2026
🕒 Time: 3:20 PM Mountain Time (11:20 PM in France)
📍 Conference: Wind Wildlife Research Meeting 2026
Biodiv-Wind is proud to be the only French team presenting its research orally at this year’s meeting.
This selection recognizes the importance of sharing scientific findings and encouraging international collaboration on bird conservation and wind energy.
