Biodiv-Wind Expands to a New Country: Chile! 🇨🇱
We are thrilled to announce that Biodiv-Wind is launching its first project in Chile, marking a new chapter in our international development. This deployment will take place in the Biobío region, one of the country’s most diverse territories when it comes to landscapes, ecosystems, and flying wildlife.
A Region Rich in Biodiversity and Ecological Contrasts
The Biobío region extends from long stretches of Pacific coastline to river valleys, wetlands, and forested foothills. Because of this diversity, it supports a wide range of species. Many coastal birds use the area as a migration corridor, while forest and farmland habitats host resident raptors and passerines throughout the year.
Among the remarkable species found there, the Chimango Caracara is one of the most common birds of prey. Moreover, the region provides essential routes for shorebirds, gulls, terns, and many long-distance migratory species traveling along the South American Pacific Flyway. These ecological dynamics make Biobío a key area for bird monitoring and for the development of responsible wind energy projects.
A Complete Wildlife Monitoring Setup for Three Turbines
To support the wind farm in this sensitive landscape, Biodiv-Wind will deploy a comprehensive monitoring and protection system powered by our advanced bird technologies.
Two SafeWind systems will provide:
-
real-time bird detection,
-
automated turbine regulation,
-
and tools designed to reduce collision risks when necessary.
Although SafeWind includes functions similar to a bird deterrent in some contexts, its core mission here is to deliver accurate data through an intelligent bird detection system.
In parallel, two AudioBat systems will be installed for continuous bat detection. These devices form an acoustic bat monitoring system capable of identifying bat activity patterns and supporting environmental studies.
Together, these four systems will equip three turbines, offering high-resolution insights into both bird and bat behavior across the site.
A Strategic Milestone for Biodiv-Wind
This project represents an important step in our growth. It demonstrates our ability to support wind energy developers wherever bird ai, bird monitoring equipment, and advanced environmental intelligence are needed.
More importantly, it reinforces our commitment to ensuring that wind energy development and biodiversity conservation advance together. By combining real-time monitoring, automated tools, and precise ecological data, we help operators make informed decisions that benefit both the project and local wildlife.
Thank You to Our Partners
We sincerely thank our partners for their trust and collaboration. Their commitment makes it possible to bring reliable, science-based bird monitoring systems to new regions around the world.
