New SafeWind Deployment in Haute-Marne: Protecting Biodiversity Where It Matters Most
🌿 Biodiv-Wind is preparing to deploy its SafeWind system on two wind turbines in Haute-Marne, a lesser-known region that deserves attention , especially for its biodiversity.
This new project reflects our continued commitment to reducing wildlife risks around wind farms through real-time monitoring and automated response technologies.
Why Haute-Marne? A Quiet Region Rich in Wildlife
📍 Located in northeastern France, Haute-Marne is home to a unique mix of dense forests, open agricultural landscapes, and the remarkable Lac du Der , one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe.
Each year, this region welcomes thousands of migrating birds, including cranes, white storks, and various raptor species. The diversity and density of avian life make it an essential location for studying and minimizing bird collision risks near wind turbines.
In this context, deploying SafeWind is a logical and impactful step. By using advanced bird detection systems, SafeWind helps detect incoming birds in real time and can automatically trigger bird deterrent actions or turbine slowdowns when necessary.
SafeWind: Real-Time Bird Monitoring for Smart Wind Energy
SafeWind is a fully automated, AI-driven bird monitoring system designed to operate in real time. It includes:
✅ High-resolution cameras for accurate bird detection
✅ Intelligent algorithms to assess risk and react instantly
✅ Compatibility with most turbine types for seamless integration
This technology improves collision prevention while keeping energy production uninterrupted. It’s a proven solution to help align wildlife protection with renewable energy development.
A Mission That Keeps Moving Forward
At Biodiv-Wind, our mission is clear:
🎯 Protect wildlife and support the energy transition.
We achieve this by providing smart, field-tested tools like SafeWind, Bird Sentinel, AudioBat (for bat detection), and other bird technologies. Together, these systems offer a comprehensive, data-driven approach to biodiversity monitoring.
We’re proud to bring this mission to life in Haute-Marne.
A huge thank-you to our partners for their trust in this project. We’re excited to continue working together toward a future where wind turbines and wildlife can safely coexist.
